From January through June, China exported 54.874 million metric tons of steel, a 5.6% year-over-year decrease.
According to data from the General Administration of Customs, in June 2026, China imported 441,000 metric tons of steel, a decrease of 10,000 metric tons, or 2.2%, from the previous month; the average price was $1,925.4 per metric ton, an increase of $237.2 per metric ton, or 14.1%, from the previous month. From January through June, cumulative steel imports totaled 2.696 million metric tons, a decrease of 343,000 metric tons, or 11.3%, compared with the same period last year.
In June 2026, China exported 10.320 million metric tons of steel, a decrease of 21,000 metric tons, or 0.2%, from the previous month; the average price was $710.8 per metric ton, an increase of $13.0 per metric ton, or 1.9%, from the previous month. From January through June, cumulative steel exports totaled 54.874 million metric tons, a decrease of 327,500 metric tons, or 5.6%, compared with the same period last year.
